Hi!
My name is Lilian Blair and I am A Music Producer, Recording Engineer, and Mixing Engineer in Seattle, WA!
My specialty is in working with rock and/or roll bands of varying degrees of spiciness, helping them through the recording process as they bring their musical dreams into the world! “Helping” being the key verb here. It’s not my job to tell you what your music should sound like; it’s my job to take what it sounds like in your head and make it a reality! With knobs and faders and microphones. So many microphones…
My current studio repertoire, in order of expense, is:
Mysterious Red X, Hall of Justice, Avast, Robert Lang, London Bridge
My role on a project is broken down into three phases:
Workshop the songs (lyrics, construction, arrangement), planning studio time usage and engineering setup, handling logistics, and whatever other preparation we can think of.
Setting up, making sure you sound like what you want to sound like, monitoring equipment, coaching performances, editing takes.
Taking the raw audio from the recording session and making it sound good as a whole, as well as utilizing additional creative and technical, um, techniques to take the raw tracks from sounding like a recording to sounding like a record.
Education
I studied Digital Audio Engineering at Shoreline Community College as well as Creative Writing at the University of Washington (which helps heaps when it comes to song workshopping). After school I interned at the historic London Bridge Studios where I learned how to take my college education and apply it at a professional level. Stuff like how to set up too many drum mics (there’s no such thing!); and editing vocals down to the syllable, but only after ensuring we get the best possible performance. After interning I started working out of The Vera Project, where I developed and taught the recording studio workshop, sharing what I’ve learned with the next generation of audio engineers.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
